When wanting to learn to crochet choosing the right hook is vitally important. The two of you will be the best of friends throughout your project-making adventures! So taking the time to find the right one is important.
There are so many to choose from! You have bamboo, wooden, metal, aluminum, plastic, and glass. They come in all shapes and sizes and range from handmade to factory-made. You can even get some that have a rubber grip on the handles known as “ergonomic handles”. Kinda like back in the day when we would have grips on our pencils in school. LOL

I am older no and I do appreciate the rubber grips on the metal handles. My hands tend to go numb after a while and I’ve noticed that I do not have that problem when I use these types of handles. My sister uses her bamboo set all the time and loves them. So back to the first statement… it all comes down to you choosing the right hook for you.
There are two main types of crochet hooks tapered and inline. This will be another choice you will make based on your preference. You can read all the reviews and listen to everybody give their opinion and it matters none. You will need to pick up the hook and give it a go it’s the only way you will know which style you would like to use.

The hooks I choose to crochet with are typically tapered. I love the way it allows me to flow in and out of the yarn easily. I have been crocheting now for around 20 years so I have had a lot of practice!
As you are learning to crochet remember that new things are hard! Don’t give up!
So what hook is your favorite? I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for stoping by.
